PASOK-Motion of Change expresses his strong concern about the trilateral cooperation meeting between Turkey, Italy and West Libyaheld in Constantinople.
Dimitris Mantzos’ Foreign Affairs responsible for the Foreign Affairs, in a statement, stressed that these discussions, along with the following statements, are increasing the risk of Greece’s diplomatic exclusion from the crucial region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Mr Mantzos emphasized that issues with a clear impact on the national interest, such as immigration, infrastructure projects and energy cooperation, cannot be discussed behind closed doors by “reviewing states” without the participation of Greece. He particularly stood in the “eager participation” of Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, which Kyriakos Mitsotakis had recently described as an ally.
In closing, PASOK calls on the Greek government to chart and implement a coherent and foresight policy for the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa, with the aim of actively participating in developments in Libya and balancing Turkey’s expansive presence in the region.
