Dendias: National domination requires alertness, requires strong armed forces

National sovereignty requires alertness. It requires primarily power to defend it. That is, it requires strong armed forces. Geopolitical reality confirms it daily.

This was emphasized on his agenda for the national anniversary of March 25, 1821, by the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias.

Addressing the officers, officers, soldiers, sailors, Smmenites, ethnic guardians, reserves and the civilian staff of the Armed Forces, he said: “Today’s day marks the starting point of our National Paligenia. We honor the militants who have chosen to revolt and claim independence from the Ottoman power. The historical route of Hellenism is a race route. “

“The freedom of nations in the course of mankind is not a free benefit. The independence we enjoy today, the state we have built, the Hellenic Republic, is the result of this constant effort. History, after all, teaches us that no obvious, “he added.

“Greece,” he explained, “is in an area of complex and multiple challenges. From traditional military conflicts to hybrid threats, the security of the country requires a new strategic approach and modern means of multiplier power. “

It made it clear that Greece “does not rest” and with “Agenda 2030” it is “the greatest reform of the Armed Forces in the history of the new Greek state”, as he characteristically said “we multiply our operational capabilities, we modernize our equipment, we are investing in our wider area. “

“Greece maintains a deterrent in its strategy over time. It secures its sovereign rights with commitment to the rules of international law and the principles of peaceful coexistence, “he said.

“The national anniversary coincides with the Feast of the Annunciation, with the Feast of the Virgin, the protector of our armed forces. Orthodoxy is, as I have repeatedly reiterated, the identity of modern Hellenism. Only with the maintenance of the elements of our national identity, Greece will stand strong, stable and dominant, ready to meet the challenges of the times. And it is these times that call us on alert, “he said.

“Today’s day,” he continued, “is not just a day of memory. It is mainly a day of responsibility. We have to stand up to our ancestors with unity, with determination, with a strategic perspective. “

“The Armed Forces must be remembered that it is the foundation of the national security of our society. That is, the security of every Greek and every Greek, “he added.

In closing, Mr. Dendias thanked the Armed Forces executives “for the dedication to duty, the commitment to the homeland, the contribution to the preservation of peace, stability, freedom”.
