Dendias: Greece works in the direction of the well -being and security of Lebanese and the entire region

Official Visit of the Ministry of Finance to Beirut

We will try as Greece, to do everything we can in the direction of prosperity and security of Lebanon and the whole area. This issue is high on our priorities. We are close, we are friends, neighbors and we believe in the future of Lebanese.

This was emphasized, among other things, by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, who made an official visit to Lebanon yesterday, Tuesday, April 8, at the invitation of Michel Menasa’s counterpart.

Mr Dendia was welcomed by Mr. Menasa at the Ministry of Defense in Beirut, and after the two ministers’ own meeting of the two ministers there were bilateral talks between the two delegations.

Among other things, Mr Dendias said that Greece welcomes “the composition of the new Lebanese government”, as well as “the election of President Aun”.

He also recalled that the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Mitsotakis “was the first foreign leader to visit Lebanon after a ceasefire agreement, showing the importance of Lebanon to Greece”.

“We have agreed,” he added, “Greece makes every effort to help Lebanon and especially the Lebanese armed forces and we will do everything we can to strengthen our relationships, our particularly cordial relationship.”

“And we will continue, for our part, to promote defensive diplomacy on the basis of regional cooperation based on international law and international sea law. We believe this is the best for all countries in the region, “said Mr. Dendias.

For his part, Michel Menasa welcomed the Greek minister, stressing that his country is proud of her friendship with Greece, a country as he said “Lighthouse of Democracy, Freedom, Culture, Faith and Human Dignity”.

“Greece,” he continued, “is a fundamental pillar of European policy, Mediterranean cooperation and peace in this part of the Middle East, that is, in our country, Lebanon.”

He explained that his country “relies on the friendship of Greece to support Lebanon in the steps to peace” that will end “the circle of suffering” in the country.

He stressed that “cooperation between countries in the region, and more specifically between Greece and Lebanon” can work to resolve issues, such as the flow of asylum seekers to Europe.

During his visit, Mr. Dendias was accepted by Lebanese President General Joseph Aun at the Presidential Palace in Beirut, in the presence of Lebanese Defense Minister.
