This was said today, Thursday, September 11th, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendiasafter the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of National Defense and the Volunteer Organization “The Smile of the Child”.
The memorandum was signed by Mr. Dendias and the president of the “Smile of the Child” Konstantinos Giannopoulos.
As announced, the signature ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of National Defense Thanassis Davakis and Commander DIAFKA Lieutenant General Michael Klouvas.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to develop a framework for cooperation between the Ministry and the Association “The Smile of the Child”, with the aim of promoting the standard of living, safety and health of minors who belong to vulnerable social groups and/or have been affected by natural and other disasters.
Specifically, the Ministry of National Defense will support the actions of the Volunteer Organization “The Smile of the Child” nationwide, inter alia, through the systematic updating of its human resources and the ability to participate in the actions of the Association, the support of the Amerte and the Amert Hells Common organization of interventions and educational activities to deal with natural and technological disasters.
Also, with the development of cooperation on psychosocial and medical support for minors and adults who belong to vulnerable social groups or have been affected by crises and disasters, as well as the enhancement of cooperation on issues of protection of children who have been victims of violence, abuse or neglect.
The “Smile of the Child” is known Panhellenic, Mr Dendias said, among other things, and added: “He is one of the most important voluntary non -profit children’s protection organizations in our home country, with a pan -Hellenic range and a social work.”
“The cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense with the” Smile of the Child “is not today. It did not start in my days and in the days of Mr. Davakis, “the Minister of National Defense said while not failing to make a special reference to his predecessor, Nikos Panagiotopoulos.

“Also, the utilization of early warning mechanisms, Amber Alert, Missing Alert Hellas, disseminating information on cases of extinct minors, organizing interventions and educational activities to tackle natural disasters, implement mental, social and medical support programs,” he said.
“That is,” he explained, “a comprehensive set of actions related to the Organization and use the experience of the Armed Forces.”
He thanked Konstantinos Giannopoulos, as well as the volunteers of the organization “for their invaluable offer”.
