«The recent publication of GDP data from ELSTAT for the second quarter of 2025 reveals the country’s economic slowdown. With an annual growth of 1.7% in the second quarter (13th in the EU) and 1.96% in the A semester (12th), Greece records the lowest performance since 2017, falling below its government target.
Consumption collapsed at 0.96% in the second quarter (21st) and 1.21% in the A semester (20th), marking the worst performance of the last seven years due to accuracy. Investments increased only 2.1% in the A semester (10th), four times below the average and target of 8.4%. Exports remained low (1.9% in the second quarter, 14th), despite the tourist boost.
In view of the TIF, we demand the government to abandon the false narratives of “growth” and to apply immediate measures to tackle accuracy, stimulate citizens’ purchasing power and enhance investment and exports. Greece deserves a development policy that supports its citizens and not great reality.»
