Serious concern about geostrategic developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East expresses the Movement for the Republic, on the occasion of references to an impending Strategic Agreement between Turkey and Egyptwhich is said to include Cairo integration into the Turkish fighter aircraft program.
According to the party’s announcement, this development dramatically strengthens the role of Ankara as a regional force, creating a new center of influence, while Greece is limited to a passive attitude, without a specific plan. The Mitsotakis government is accused of a series of failures on national issues.
In particular, the Democracy Movement argues that the government has not promoted an integrated EEZ strategy in the Eastern Mediterranean. He is also accused of the absence of active diplomatic action in the Cyprus issue, resulting in the consolidation of the committed, as well as the loss of Greece’s role as a force of stability in the Balkans, leaving room for third forces.
The announcement concludes by stressing that, at a time when neighbors are reinforcing their position, Greece cannot continue with leaderships limited to communication and failing to draw an effective strategy to protect its interests.
