Tourists interested in visiting the island of Hvar in Croatia are now required to follow the new dress code carefully, otherwise they risk being fined.
Authorities in Hvar have introduced a stricter dress code for visitors. Those who do not meet the new dress code, wearing inappropriate clothing in public areas, around historic landmarks, or at religious sites, will be fined, Schengen.News reports.
In line with new rules, visitors wearing swimwear outside of Hvar’s beach areas risk being fined up to €600, while all those walking shirtless or in very revealing clothes in the island’s town centre risk penalties of €500.
The Commercial Director at Good Travel Management, Laura Busby, told Daily Mail that tourists are advised to research any landmarks or local attractions and their dress code prior to their visit, so they are not “caught off guard.”
Laura recommended tourists carry a scarf or long-sleeved jacket when out exploring, in case they visit cultural sites. In addition, she said that some places may also ask tourists to wear long skirts or trousers in order to go inside.

Keep an eye on how locals behave in different situations and environments, like cafes, restaurants and tourist sites.
