The minutes of a tragedy in a nursing home in Crete records video document which brings Live News to light. A 93-year-old woman drinks a caustic liquid instead of water and shortly after takes her last breath.
The Live News video document shows frame by frame everything that happened at the nursing home in Crete until the elderly woman drank the caustic liquid and lost her life.
The report shows how from 09:27 in the morning when the 93-year-old calls the nurse, and gives her signs that something is wrong.
A minute later, at 09:28 am, the nurse goes and brings her a pill which she gives to her in the same bottle to drink.
And suddenly at 09:30 the nurse looks at the bottle and realizes that what is in it is not water, so she gives her to drink from another bigger bottle.
But it’s late…
Frame by frame what happened
In a dark and empty space, a woman will lose her life. From about 07:12 until 8 in the morning the hall fills up, they are nursing home inmates. The rest of the inmates will arrive by 08:30 and breakfast will begin.
Everything happens on December 4, 2023. The elderly woman asks for a glass of water and a nurse gives it to her, at 09:00. Forty-seven seconds later he’s drinking, his back to the lens, wearing a red cardigan and in a wheelchair. At 09:04′:40” she is offered a bottle of water, she will drink it greedily in 7 sips.
The woman in total drinks the water slowly for about 20 minutes, her daughter will say, except that the water is cleansing liquid!
When the elderly woman is uncomfortable and starts foaming at the mouth, they are mobilized by the nursing home.
The time is 09:27: The 93-year-old calls out to the woman and makes signs that something is wrong. At 09:28, a minute later, the nurse goes and brings her a pill which he gives her in the same bottle to drink.
The removal of the bottle and the new larger bottle
At 09:28 the nurse looks at the bottle and gives the 93-year-old woman to drink from another bigger one and at 09:31′:25” another nurse appears with a white overall and a black waistcoat.
The first nurse, the woman who gave her the bottle, realizes what has happened, and after communicating with the old woman, she goes back, smells the bottle to make sure it’s not water, and puts the cleaner back in the fridge, instead of a another space.
It gives the impression that the nurse seems to be unfazed by the whole incident. He gives her the first bottle and she smells it, at 09.35 the 93-year-old woman in the wheelchair moves away.
At 09.44′.50” and a third worker in a white overall and a khaki jacket tries to provide first aid. The elderly woman is conscious until 09.56′.46 when she is taken away, at which point the door closes, while it is interesting that the rest of the inmates continue their breakfast as usual.
The ambulance was notified at 09:51, arrived at 09:56, at 10:03 they took her and she entered the hospital at 10:21. She died around 12:30 in the afternoon, while her daughter will complain that the authorities tried to blame the 93-year-old.
The liquid that burned the old woman was not water of course, but a chemical liquid.
The relatives will say that it is clear that the operating conditions of the nursing home did not provide any safety. There was inexcusable indifference and for that they are asking for justice.
