By decision of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costa Tsiara, Task Force is formed for the biological production sectorchaired by the Secretary General of Rural Development and Food, Spyros Protopsalti.
As stated in a related announcement by a decision by Kostas Tsiara, the new Task Force It is a staff of strategic importance, with the main task of coordinating, supervising and accelerating all the necessary actions to enhance the credibility, transparency and efficiency of the control and certification system of organic products under Regulation (EU) 2018/848.
The aim is to create a single and cohesive framework that will ensure:
- the credibility of biological signs of consumers,
- justice in distributing aid to consistent producers,
- the strengthening of the approve and supervision mechanism of certification bodies and
- The treatment of misleading, irregularities and unfair competition.
The decision is part of the ministry’s overall plan to boost organic production and achieve the national goal: 25% of agricultural land is cultivated by biological methods by 2030.
The coordination team is made up of officials from the Ministry, ELGO -DIMITRA and the General Secretariat for Union Resources and Infrastructure, as well as a specialized scientist in the academic community, to ensure a high level of documentation and efficiency.
Task Force’s work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
