The agricultural areas of the Palamas Karditsa area, affected by recent severe weather, were visited today by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras. The autopsy was accompanied by the Mayor of Palamas, Socrates Daskalopoulos, the Vice President of ELGA, Yiannis Kollatos, as well as a step of the ELGA Larissa Regional Directorate.
During the visit, the minister was informed on the spot on the extent of the damage, which, according to preliminary estimates, are limited scale.
In detail the statement by the Minister of Rural Development and Food Costas Tsiaras:
“Following extensive reports of agricultural production in Palamas, I am here with a step of the ELGA Regional Directorate from Larissa, in order to determine the range of disasters, but mainly to see what are the steps he must organize on his side.
The truth is that this is a limited range of damage. However, exactly what is compensated and how it is obviously described by the ELGA regulation itself, as well as through the appraisal process itself.
We want, however, in every way to emphasize that ELGA and the Mitsotakis government are always on the side of the farmers, on issues and issues concerning it, for disasters that have been very common lately due to the climate crisis.
The procedures followed prove the adequacy of the Organization’s mechanism, although in recent years it has been called upon to manage a host of such crisis, through appraisal procedures and many compensation, which concerned a huge number of beneficiaries, especially here in Thessaly. ELGA responded not only with adequacy but with great success in this difficult task. “
