Russian pharmaceutical company R-Pharm has begun production of the coronavirus vaccine based on a patent from the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca, which will be exported abroad.
Domestic market demand, however, will be fully met by Russian vaccines, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vassily Osmakov told reporters.
“Foreign vaccines are already being produced in Russia, in R-Pharm the AstraZeneca vaccine is produced entirely on the basis of export contracts,” Osmakov said.
The AstraZeneca vaccine has not yet been approved in Russia. Russian citizens can only be vaccinated with the Russian vaccines Sputnik-V, Sputnik-Light, CoviVac, Epi VacKorona and EpiVacKorona-N.
