The audits of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) in the fuel market in gas stations of the country.
The AADE inspectors use the available tools, combining the information they have at their disposal with the data from the input-output system and, through the operations chamber, coordinate the on-site inspections and filling stations, in collaboration with the Hellenic Police, where necessary.
From the available data, the following observations emerge: Since the implementation of the National Customs Code and the two-year sealing penalties at gas stations, the following sealings have been imposed per cause of violation:
- For forgery (3 businesses)
- For falsification of parts and mechanisms of the input-output system (6 companies)
- To prevent control (1 company)
- For smuggling (1 company)
- For forgery, falsification of mechanisms and smuggling (1 company)
After checking the ownership status of the 12 above sealed gas stations, it was found that their members were partners of more than 50% or exercised management in another 28 gas stations.
In these 28 companies, measures were imposed to stop the supply of fuel, exhaust the fuel, remove the signs and the equipment of the fuel trading companies.
Due Diligence Measures
Following the passage of the provisions of the National Customs Code on Due Diligence Measures, which created a market compliance framework, according to which fuel trading companies should evaluate their customers (gas stations), in terms of the quality of the fuel they deliver, the certificates and declarations related to their tanks and pumps and after informing all those involved, AADE proceeded with checks that led to a compliance of gas stations at a rate of 71% to 99% depending on the category of obligation.
There had been two AADE briefings to businesses, regarding their obligations and the measures they had to take to comply.
It is indicative that, over a period of 1.5 months, the AADE activated the Due Diligence Measures at 69 gas stations, giving an order to stop their fuel supply, of which, after their compliance, 64 resumed operation.
Checks will continue until all stations are fully compliant.
