Challenges and strategic goals
The problems of the existing development model identified by the Chamber, despite the recovery of the Greek economy in recent years, are : – Excessive dependence on consumption and tourism
– the small size and low capital adequacy of Greek businesses
– Reduced ability to access small and medium -sized businesses to bank lending
– The low added value of domestic production
– deficiency in digital skills and limited investment in innovation and

In order to deal with weaknesses, the EBEA proposes the foundation of a new, more durable and competitive development model, that will incorporate innovation and new technologies, creating quality jobs. This effort, as the Chamber estimates, must be based on five strategic pillars: Strengthening productivity and extroversion, promoting green and digital transition, mobilizing investment in strategic sectors, closer interconnection of education with the labor market, and reconstruction of the state as a staff member of development.
Policy proposals for the new model
The EBEA memorandum analyzes the policy proposals on critical axes. To enhance competitiveness and extroversion, it is proposed to provide tax incentives for SME mergers and improve access to funding. Implementation of extroversion programs with emphasis on high -tech products is requested and the development of a national industrial energy plan with incentives for RES in industrial zones.
In the development of innovation and human capital, the EBEA demands enhanced incentives in research and development costs. It proposes support for startups through an integrated ecosystem, upgrading Public IEK and the creation of sectoral skills.
For the transition to green and digital production, it is proposed to upgrade infrastructure to digital and energy networks, support for the energy transformation of SMEs and the utilization of new European Funds.
Regarding the effective public administration and the faster awarding justice, the EBEA stresses the need to promote e -Justice, the completion of the digital state and the enhancement of transparency.
Finally, the spatial and sectoral reorientation of production includes the development of new generation industrial parks, investment in logistics infrastructure, specialized sectoral business plans, investment in the primary sector and accelerating the country’s spatial and urban planning.
