Completion of the Eratosthenes project – DBC Diadikasia at the Prime Minister’s Pioneer for the Internet of Things

The European project Eratosthenes – Secure Management of IoT Devices Lifecycle through Through Identities, Trust and Distributed Ledgers, funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission and implemented from October 2021 to March 2025, has successfully completed.

The project aimed to tackle critical challenges in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), such as the absence of visibility and control over security, the heterogeneity of the devices, the lack of single confidence and identification mechanisms, as well as the limited training and support capabilities for security entities.

Through an integrated framework of technological solutions, Eratosthenes developed and tried innovative architectural and tools that enhance transparency, trust and cyber security throughout the life cycle of IoT devices. Specifically, a decentralized identity management system was developed, a dynamic Trust Manager for large -scale networks, as well as smart contracts in a Distributed Ledger environment to divide confidence and enforce access policies.

The results of the project were validated through pilot applications in critical areas such as health, connected vehicles and industry 4.0, and were incorporated into international standards, such as the MUD, contributing to the promotion of interoperability and certified security at IoT.

The contribution of the Greek company DBC Diadikasia, which led the work package (6) concerning the dissemination of results, communication, education and standardization, was decisive. DBC designed and implemented a complete communication plan with a dynamic presence at international fora and conferences, continuous updating of the digital channels of the project, as well as the production of rich information and educational material.

At the same time, he undertook the design and implementation of educational activities and workshops, enhancing professionals and agencies in identity, trust and security in the IOT space. In addition, DBC has co -ordinated actions related to cyber -security certification and standardization, submitting documented proposals through special White Papers for flexible, automated certification forms, while contributing to the mapping of existing framework and the recognition of gaps in the European market.

The successful completion of the project was sealed by organizing the final workshop, which involved more than 130 professional and interested parties, with the presentation of the final results and their implementation in the three main target areas of the project. DBC’s involvement in Eratosthenes demonstrates its strategic role in strengthening European cyber -up and support solutions that are certified, interoperable and safe throughout the life of ioT devices.

As George Athanasiou, Head of Research and Innovation of DBC Diadikasia, typically said, “Our participation in the Eratosthenes project confirms DBC’s strategic commitment to actively contribute to enhancing cyber security and internet confidence. Through the coordination of communication, training and certification actions, we have substantially supported the adoption of innovative solutions that can be applied immediately in critical areas of the economy. The project highlighted the importance of collaboration between research, academic and business bodies to create safe, interoperable and certified IoT ecosystems. The experience we have gained reinforces our vision of offering know -how and solutions that meet the modern demands of digital transformation. “
