Radical changes to the national customs code governing the operation and procedures of customsbrings new bill presented yesterday (28.4.2025) to the Council of Ministers.
The bill provides for complete digitization of customs, as all procedures will be handled through electronic systems, with digital signatures from auditors and controlled, electronic fines, and recording of any real -time movement. Communication between customs authorities and involved will be exclusively digitally digitally available, and the data will be readily available to the authorities.
With the new arrangements, it ends the old customs code by incorporating all European instructions.
The goals of the new Code are to strengthen controls in order to further limit smuggling, customs fraud and tax evasion, by accessing customs to elements of national and international authorities, including AADE and ELAS.
The Single Tobacco Registry also extends to electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products, while strict penalties for degradation and virtual transactions are provided.
