In particular, Thomas Rainier stated that the invasions drones in the airspace of EU member states are part of a hybrid war against Europe.
“We’ve all witnessed it closure of airports in Belgium and the recent drone incursions in Sweden. We fully support Belgium, Sweden and all affected member states,” he said initially.
“Now, attribution of the origin of these drones is the sole responsibility of our member states“, he then added, avoiding to give more details.
According to him, “what is clear is that, as stated by President von der Leyen, this is a hybrid war and Europe is at risk».
Thomas Rainier explained that precisely for this reason, the road map for “Defense Readiness 2030” presented by the Commission last October, underlines the importance and top priority given to the “Drone Wall Initiative”.
