The government’s intention to support young people who rent, through a rent allowancereiterated in yesterday’s (09.04.2025) presence at the Delphi Economic Forum, the “tsar” of the finance ministry (Ministry), Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
The need to give a rental allowance specifically for young people due to the housing crisis and high prices on the real estate market, the Ministry of Finance had also reported in a recent radio interview. “What I can tell you as a direction is: We are interested in supporting the young people and young people who are currently on rent. There will obviously be specific measures along the way for specific social categories. “
Mr Pierrakakis stresses that any aid will always be given to budgetary stability, especially in a “dangerous” and volatile environment like what we are forced to live, due to the maiden trade war.
For the details announcements, Mr Pierrakakis referred to the prime minister’s speech at the TIF. However, according to unconfirmed information, the new rental allowance will be for young people up to 35 years old and young families with low incomes who are unable to acquire their own home and rent.
The funds are expected to be raised by the NSRF 2021-2027, and new financial tools are not excluded to create a response to the housing crisis, mainly to large urban centers such as Athens and Thessaloniki.
