Countdown to acquire the drones “Kamikaze”, Switchblade 300/600. In the units of the Special War Management (ADHD) at Armed force the first systems.
The Armed Forces are in the “wait” for the American response to LOA, in order to begin the countdown to acquiring a total of 592 Drones “Kamikaze” systems, Switchblade 300 and 600.
The process came into the final straight with the mission of the Letter of Request, with which Athens officially expressed its interest in acquiring them.
The answer, in the form of a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA), will have the validity of a binding agreement and concerns a program of EUR 80 million, of which 25 million will be covered by Greece and the remaining 55 million via US FMF. The systems are ready -made and, according to reports, have already been committed to the US stock in favor of our country.
The deal provides for a total of 390 Switchblade 300 to 50 handling units and 202 Switchblade 600 with 26 handling units. This is the most up -to -date Block 20 version of the Switchblade 300, incorporating improvements directly from business fields – with significantly increased sensor sensor, flight duration and obstacle avoidance data.
Priority to ADHD units
GEHEA has distributed use, giving the majority of Switchblade 300/600 to the Special War Management Units (ADHD) and the remaining number in select Infantry and Motor Infantry Units in Evros and Eastern Aegean islands.
The first Switchblade 300 will reach the Special Business Units, as they already have the necessary level of education and experience. Particular emphasis is placed on the units of amphibious commanders operating in Rhodes, Lesvos, Samos, Chios and Kos. The light weight and high mobility of the Switchblade 300 make it ideal for island businesses where speed, flexibility and coverage are critical advantages.
Switchblade 300 – flexibility and accuracy in blows
The Switchblade 300 is a portable high -precision target attack system. It weighs just 2.5 kg with its ammunition, while the Block 20 version reaches 4 kg, including the launch pipe and the remote control unit.
It has an electro-optic and infrared camera (EO/IR), two axis-stabilized sensors to avoid vibration, high-resolution visual zoom and digital image processor. Its range reaches 10 kilometers, its maximum speed is 161 km/h and its flight lasts up to 20 minutes.
The operator can launch within 2 minutes, set navigation points or direct the drone via a portable tablet, with a real-time image and targeting capability. The system also includes interconnection with a regular communications network, which makes it critical on the battlefield. The Switchblade 300, due to size and low audio signature, is extremely difficult to detect with electronic warfare or radar.
Switchblade 600 – The anti -tank “nightmare”
The Switchblade 600 is a much heavier, more powerful and more sophisticated drone-wrack, designed to neutralize armored targets, such as tanks, armored vehicles and high-value infrastructure. It has a 15kg war head, over 40 km, 40 minutes flight time, while the speed of infestation exceeds 185 km/h. The ability to insult moving goals through EO/IR camera guidance and laser makes it extremely dangerous for hostile battle formations.
Includes autonomous navigation unit with predetermined routes and return to the launch base or alternative point. Intelligent navigation makes it re -exploitable if it does not offend the target – which gives it a huge operational advantage over other Loitering Munitions systems.
It can be launched by Humvee or armored M1117 Guardian, with GEHEA designing the equipment of motor powers in Evros and islands with Switchblade 600 systems.
Regular advantage in modern business environment
The effectiveness of Switchblade is not limited to the ability to hurt goals. Real -time recognition, surveillance and targeting offers immediate operational image to the regular and strategic level.
They are characterized as ‘multipries’ power, in particular in defense line splitting, support targets and administration centers. Their role, especially in island theaters of businesses such as the Aegean, is key in preventing landing businesses.
The forthcoming acquisition of the Switchblade 300 and 600 by the Greek Armed Forces is yet another step of modernizing and upgrading their deterrent power. At a time when technology is being transferred to the battlefield, the choice of wandering ammunition is a strategic move of high value added.
