In the tragic incident of the death of a 16-year-old teenage girlwhich collapsed outside a nightclub, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, said. Speaking on Sky TV, the minister admitted that police cannot control all shops and appealed to parents to “toughen up” their behavior towards children.
“The Authorities are everywhere, but they cannot control all the shops”he noted. “The police have a very large presence in these areas, mainly in the part of the extortionists and the thugs of the night, where they do a very good job and you see that we don’t have any incidents,” he said, but he added: “We have an issue of controlling authorities though. The question is another: why does the store put a minor child inside.”
Michalis Chrysochoidis called every shopkeeper who sells booze to minors a criminal: “His first crime is that he puts the child in, his second crime is that he gives him alcohol, his third possible crime is that he might give him adulterated alcohol and then maybe drugs. So we have to manage our children, there are many challenges”.
During his interview, the Minister of Citizen Protection also referred to other current issues, heralding further investigations into cases related to illegal agricultural subsidies. “Soon the Prosecutor will also indict other large criminal groups where it is demonstrated that beyond simply extracting resources, the sums left through circuits,” he said.
Regarding the implementation of the new legislation to limit the demonstrations to the Unknown Soldier, he announced that will speak with the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias. He emphasized that he is not afraid of the possibility of incidents at the October 28 parade: “I am not afraid. I’m just saying that some people want to break up the country in the name of their ambitions.”
