The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis speaking to Action 24 about the case in Vorizia, he referred to the government’s moves to disarm those who possess illegal weapons.
“The murder case in Vorizia has been fully investigated. Those who participated, in one way or another, have been arrested,” Michalis Chrysochoidis said initially about Vorizia and then added: “Many weapons have been collected… They have all been arrested.”
“There is the issue of weapons. This has two aspects. One side is the legislative side, I will go to Crete in the next few days and I will announce very specific measures that the government will take to tighten the legislation and limit the illegal possession of firearms”, he then emphasized.
“On the other hand, the government has a plan for targeted operations, so that through legislation to disarm those who possess illegal weapons, an attempt is made to change the climate in that particular place. Crete does not have a high crime rate. The problem is concentrated in Psiloritis, north of Psiloritis and south which is Kamares and Vorizia”, added Mr. Chrysochoidis.
Speaking more specifically about the measures, the Minister of Citizen Protection clarified: “Until today there is a restriction on military weapons. Pistols and revolvers are now included in the severe penalties. The second is patchwork in ceremonies and weddings. This is criminalized and with the responsibility of the person who makes the social event”.
“Antifa in Greece has no terrorist activity”
For the inclusion of the two Antifa groups operating in Greeceof Revolutionary Class Self-Defense and Armed Proletarian Justice, in a list of USA with terrorist organizations, Michalis Chrysochoidis said: “Such a group can be characterized as terrorist if it carries out explosions, murderous actions and a series of illegal activities. I don’t know exactly what the article says, but I understand that [οι ΗΠΑ] they want to crack down on Antifa who have a certain ideology. Where there is activity that goes beyond the law and enters the fields of activity of explosions, the use of weapons and violence, it is obviously terrorist.’
The Minister of Citizen Protection reiterated his ignorance regarding the US government’s pursuits on the matter and pointed out: “Antifa exists all over Europe, not only in Greece, where to date we only have an atavistic activity, without terrorist activity.”
