Today, after 106 years, neighbors continue their threat, albeit in the level of threats, essentially the same policy: Casus Belli, illegal occupation of northern Cyprus, challenging Greek sovereignty in the Aegean and in the islands of the Eastern Aegean, “Turkish” minority in Thrace. A policy based not on international law, neither the law of the seas, nor on the UN resolutions, but on the law of the powerful … who believe that it is reinforced by the present geopolitical context that may favor them.
As for the geopolitical advantage, in fact, at this time Turkey is objectively, perhaps advantageous. This is due to the size of the country (territorial and population) in its geographical location, to the instability of its neighboring countries and of course the religious consolidation. The issue, therefore, combined with the geopolitical advantage, will make it dangerous to Hellenism is military power, if it evolves into a level of super -deficiency in relation to our country.
This is because the geopolitical advantage of a country supports, among other things, the increase in military power, which is a supply of modern equipment systems. On the other hand, however, the geopolitical advantage of a country retreats forward to a very increased military power. This is not only true for states with authoritarian or dictatorial regimes with nationalist standards. History shows that even countries with democratic system can be equally expanding.
A typical example: Based on the advantage of military power, England, on April 2, 1982, began the Falkland War to regain the islands, which the Argentine junta had temporarily occupied. But regardless of the Argentinean regime, the fact is that these islands are thousands of miles away from London, and only a few miles near the Argentine coasts. Argentina then had the geopolitical advantage. The English war machine, however, crushed the Argentines. The majority of international public opinion then supported the English campaign.
As for the people of England, the majority was celebrating the event. Perhaps it was still true that Engels wrote in 1882 to Kerensky (Prime Minister of Russia before the October Revolution), from London: “You ask me what English workers think about their country’s colonial policy. They think the bourgeoisie itself. The workers also eat with joy from the England monopoly on the world market and in the colonies “… but similar examples confirm that a country’s geopolitical advantage retreats in front of the power of the powerful, there are many from antiquity, but also in recent history. Our neighboring Israel has imposed its territorial sovereignty, based on its military power, a decisive factor that reinforces its geopolitical advantage.
Our country is as a security islet in a burning area of the planet.
Our country seems to have an underwater energy wealth …
Our country, despite its commitment to international law, has previously but recently been unjustified by the powerful .. Asia Minor Disaster … Pontian genocide, uprooting by Constantinople … invasion in Cyprus … and now threats by “allies”.
But how will Greece finally overcome the relative geopolitical advantage of Turkey and secure its righteousness?
In my appreciation one is the way: social and political power through the unity of the ubiquitous Greeks. And military power, through the immediate supply of modern weapon systems. And in the medium term, the development of a war industry. In terms of equipment, the government has given up in practice, absolute priority. As far as homosexuality is concerned, perhaps further efforts are needed by all the political bodies of our country … so as not to risk the tragic stories of Hellenism again, described in the shocking lyrics of the Asteromata….
“Sweet my mother don’t cry me
Black and if they wear you
The frantic my body
Flames don’t beat it
The swallows of fire
Seas and if they pass ”
Not to be repeated again, something I lived decades ago, when I served as a doctor in a rocket in our Navy … the ship was patrolling in the Aegean. And we heard from the radio the evolution of the Turkish invasion of Attila 2 .. We could do something … “
