The Left MEP and a member of the Security & Defense Committee returns, Professor Nikolas Farantouris In the massacres and persecutions of Christians and Alevians in Syria by the Jolani regime.
As he states to a question he submitted to the EU High Representative for Foreign Callia Callia, On Monday morning in Brussels, “In the last 24 hours, images of continuing targeting of Christian and other religious communities come to light. Syria by forces and extremists who are in al -Jolani regime. “
“Indicatively, on Sunday, April 6, at the Church of St. George of the Greek Orthodox town of Budan, they invaded Islamists, bathed the seats with gasoline and placed explosive mechanisms, which fortunately did not explode.”
“Other information says that senior government officials,” former “members of extremist organizations and Al Qaida support terrorist attacks such as the plan that is making the internet for the bombing of the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady in Tartus (Tarsus).”
And the Greek MEP continues:
“It is obvious that Alevis, Christians and other Syrian communities are threatened by the Damascus regime. Under these circumstances, the European Union’s intervention is urgent to do what Jolani refuses to do: to protect the lives of all Syrians regardless of religion.
In view of the above, Nikolas Farantouris calls on the Vice President of the European Commission:
1. In intervening decisively in the government of Damascus, demanding the protection of Christian and other endangered communities.
2. At last, observers is finally sent to record slaughter and incidents of violence.
3. Coordinates a dispatch of humanitarian aid to the threatened coastal areas, with the participation of Member States such as Greece, Cyprus, France and others, as requested by representatives of the affected and under terms of terror areas.
MEP Nicolas Farantouris went to Syria on the days of the Great March 7-9, 2025 and met with the Christian and Alevi communities, representatives of other national and religious communities such as Ismailites and Drouzos, the Greek Community of Damascus, the Greek Community of Damaskou
