“The relationship between Greece and India is based on common values such as peace, democracy and respect for international law,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said. Tasos Hatzivasiliouduring his speech at the event on the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
In his speech, Mr. Hadjivasiliou recalled that the Hellenic -Ning cooperation was upgraded strategically with the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Athens in August 2023, and further reinforced by the official visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsos.

As he said, among other things, the Memorandum of Understanding marks a new chapter in Greece and India relations, enhancing business ties and creating new prospects for Greek businesses in the Indian market. This cooperation will enhance information exchange, networking and training and supporting initiatives promoting bilateral trade and investment.
The Undersecretary of State also referred to the East -Europe -Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), stressing that Greece, due to its strategic position and its important role in international shipping, can be India’s main gateway to the European market. “Recently, I had the opportunity to accompany Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on his visit to India, where we reaffirmed Greece’s strong support in this initiative,” he said.
In addition, Mr. Hadjivasiliou welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, stressing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the enhancement of the extroversion of Greek businesses, the attraction of investment and the simplification of processes that facilitate business cooperation between the two countries. “The future depends on what we are doing today,” he said at the closure of his speech, quoting Mahatma Gandhi.
It is noted that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by EBEA President Yiannis Bratakos and the Nishant Arya Indian Chamber of Industry.
