“Greece, led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is today an example of progress and recovery – a great European success,” said Deputy Foreign Minister, responsible for financial diplomacy and extroversion, Mr. Tasos Hatzivasiliou to the Bavarian parliament in the context of a work visit at the Germany.
In his speech entitled “Greece at the center”, the Deputy Minister presented the country’s development course, focusing on the positive performance of the Greek economy and the government’s strategic priorities for sustainable development, reforms and enhancing extroversion. As he said, “Greece has evolved into a reliable hub of energy, technology, transport and commerce, taking advantage of its geopolitical position at the crossroads of three continents.”

Mr Hatzivasiliou highlighted the dynamics of Greek -Bavarian economic relations, with bilateral trade that reached € 1.8 billion in 2024, increasing a 65% increase in five years. He also stressed that Greece is today an attractive investment destination, with Bavaria offering significant opportunities for cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, digital innovation, agri -food and high -tech industry.
In the debate that followed in the Bavarian Parliament, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that Greek public debt is now completely viable, thanks to prudent fiscal policy and reforms implemented over the last six years under the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. As he pointed out, Greece’s consistent reform course has led to a reduction in public debt and the conversion of the country into an example of digital transformation, with the spearhead of the gov.gr platform. “Greece has proven that real change is possible, even in crisis,” noting the reduction of bureaucracy and the steady commitment to fiscal discipline and structural reforms. In this context, he called for investment in strategic sectors such as energy, innovation, transport and digital technology, highlighting Greece as a reliable partner and a pole of stability in the wider region.
Mr Hadjivasiliou also analyzed the lessons of the Greek crisis on European economic governance. He highlighted the need for flexible but strict budgetary rules, timely decision -making in crisis conditions, institutional shielding of the banking sector and dedication to the principle of European solidarity.
