“Greece -Spain’s economic cooperation can gain even greater depth and strategic perspective,” said Deputy Foreign Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister, responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extraversion, Mr. Tasos Hatzivasiliou of Madrid.
Mr. Chatzivasiliou is in Madrid, head of the Greek business mission, accompanied by representatives of Greek businesses from the fields of energy, construction, transport, food, health, services, retailers and information technology.
Ypipx met with the Spanish Deputy Minister of Economy, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, María Amparo López Senovilla, in which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations.
He then welcomed the Business Conference of Greece – Spain. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of extroversion as a strategic choice of our country, noting that “political stability and successive upgrades from international evaluation firms reinforce Greece’s image as a credible business partner and attractive investment destination”.
Referring to bilateral trade relations, he noted that Spain is ranked among Greece’s most important commercial partners. “Spain, in 2024, became the 8th most important destination for Greek exports, with a volume of 1.56 billion euros,” he added. He also stressed that Spain can be the gateway to increase Greek exports to Latin America.
“Greece and Spain are linked to common values, common principles and deep friendship. As close partners within the EU and NATO, we are working on multiple levels to promote our common goals, “Mr. Hadjivasiliou stressed.
He then visited the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he met with his chairman, Mr. ángel Asensio, with whom they discussed the opportunities for the development of synergies between the two countries.
Finally, the Deputy Foreign Minister addressed members of the Elcano Royal Institute for International and Strategic Studies, one of the leading Spanish Think Tanks Strategic Analysis, discussing geopolitical developments in Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as the transformation of Greek and the European economy.
As he said, “Greece and Spain, two countries located at the geographical ends of the Mediterranean, have shown that they share common values and strategic interests. Our close cooperation within the EU, NATO and the Med9 scheme, highlights our common vision for a Europe with energy self -sufficiency and geopolitical stability. Our countries have the will and ability to promote policies that boost the resilience of the European economy and regional cooperation, both within the Mediterranean and with partners in the Middle East and Africa. “
In closing, Mr Hadjivasiliou reiterated the Greek government’s commitment to attract investment and enhance extroversion. “Through carefully designed initiatives, we are actively shaping Greece’s future as a credible hub of Informatics, Energy, Logistics and Trade, utilizing its key geographical location,” he said.
