Chania: A slap was the reason for the killer in Elos Kissamos – “The perpetrator will be handed over” says his family

However, the information from the perpetrator’s family states that the 23-year-old will be handed over within the day, although police have launched a manhunt to locate him.

Another person was injured in the shooting and is hospitalized in a serious condition. According to eyewitnesses, there were women and children dancing on the dance floor at the time of the murder.

Everything happened late Sunday afternoon (26.10.2025) in the village of Elos in the municipality of Kissamos where the Chestnut festival was in progress.

Hundreds of people were at the celebration where they danced and had fun to the sounds of Cretan artists.

Shortly after 6 pm, the perpetrator appeared at the scene and pulling out his gun approaches the 52-year-old. She shoots him in the chest and runs off in an unknown direction.

Panic prevailed from the shootings, a doctor and an off-duty police officer who were at the scene performed CPR on the victim, however, despite being transported by EKAV ambulance to the Kissamos Health Center and then to the Chania hospital, he did not manage to survive.
