Radical changes to tradeand specifically in the way in which pricing and repayment of the agricultural products The new Independent Market and Consumer Protection Authority introduces, which aims to ensure transparency and protect producers.
Amendments to Laws 4308/2014 and 4492/2017 are expected to be brought up and down the trade of agricultural products, as presented by the Minister of Development, Mr. Takis Theodorikakos.
To date, article 11 of Law 4308/2014 stipulated that the invoice had to be issued by the 15th of the following month from the date of shipment of the products, while according to Law 4492/2017, its repayment was paid within 60 days. In many cases, however, repayment was never done, while producers hesitated to denounce their customers, fearing a stoppage of cooperation.
With the new modifications, the landscape changes drastically:
- The invoice will be issued with the shipping note, with the indicated price indicating.
- This price can be adjusted (up to ± 10%) to the definitive invoice issued by the age of 15 at the latest to reflect the actual market conditions.
- The deadline for repayment of the final invoice is reduced from 60 to 30 days.
Most importantly, however, AADE will be able to detect the non -repayment of the invoice by crossing the banks, without the need for a complaint by the producer. If the invoice remains unpaid after 75 days, a fine will be imposed, thereby shielding the rights of producers and enhancing transparency in the market.
