In the United States of America, the next event of the Rebrain Greece Action will take place, with the aim of interconnecting Greek high -profile workers who live and work there, with businesses operating in Greece and looking for specialized staff, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Ceramic Victoryspeaking at the annual Brainregain Conference, entitled Powering Greece Forward, representing the prime minister.
As Niki Kerameos said, the Greek government is moving very dynamically in order to create the conditions so that more Greeks and more Greeks, who have mainly left the difficult years of the financial crisis, to think of their return to our homeland. According to Eurostat data, They have already returned more than 420,000 Greeks abroad from over 680,000 who have left in recent years. In her speech, Mrs Kerameos stressed that the government is working persistently and systematically, not only to stop the “brain leak” abroad, a situation in 2019, but also to reverse it.
“By taking over the governance of our country, we at the same time undertaken the debt to try to bring back all those brilliant minds, which mainly left the years of the financial crisis in search of a better professional opportunity,” the Minister of Labor said, and the government said: Creating the appropriate conditions for the return of these brilliant minds from abroadthe second axis is the establishment of special incentives and the third axis is the highlighting all positive changes.
In this context, Mrs Kerameos stated that our country has changed a lot in recent years and, sketching the changes that have been made, he said:
- Unemployment from almost 18% in 2019 has fallen to 9%. Today, Greece has unemployment lower than Sweden and Spain, it has been the lowest unemployment of the last 17 years since 2008.
- Over 500,000 new jobs have been created and high -special jobs are increasing exponentially.
- Also, our country is showing the greatest increase in employment among all Member States of the European Union, along with Luxembourg in the first place.
- The average salary has increased by 28% and the minimum of 35%. More than 70 taxes have been abolished or reduced, insurance contributions have made the largest decline in the European Union by 5.5 percentage points, followed by another reduction in 2027.
- In addition, the government’s investment policy and the attraction of international investment have created many well -paid jobs, which, in combination with reduced taxation and relatively lower costs of Greece than in other countries, are cultivating internationally competitive conditions.
- Finally, our country is growing at a growth rate much faster than the European Union average by 2.3%.
“This positive situation is not just financial,” the Labor Minister commented, adding that political stability and extroversion have increased the prestige of Greece internationally. At the same time, Mrs Kerameos added that Incentives to those who wish to return to Greece also provide workers’ support measures, such as benefits, paternity licenses, but new families housing programs.
The Minister of Labor also referred to the significant tax incentive introduced by the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which provides for a 50% reduction in income taxation for seven consecutive years for those who have returned to Greece, after five years and absence abroad, as well as the new US -based reign.
Mrs Kerameos also talked about the need to highlight the positive changes in our country, which is achieved by the information campaign, which is being implemented with events abroad and, in particular, in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and London.
“The bet is to show the Greeks abroad that Greece, who left behind, has nothing to do with today’s Greece, and at the same time highlighting how the climate has changed in order to attract them,” the Labor Minister said, noting that the reasons for the return are not only personal. As he said, ‘the big difference with the time they left is that, Today, there are very important professional opportunities that then did not exist».
Among other things, Mrs Kerameos emphasized the catalytic assistance of initiatives, such as Brainregain, that promote communication channels between businesses, institutions and academic community, create alliances for attracting more and more Greeks abroad and contribute to the strengthening of its relations with its relations. “The state is a helper in any such effort,” the minister assured.
In closing her position, Mrs Kerameos said that the final decision on the return is theirs. But the Ministry of Labor’s debt is to highlight the important professional opportunities that exist and to be the “bridge” of interconnection between companies looking for staff and our compatriots who are thinking of returning to Greece.
It is noted that the conference, organized by Brainregain, is under the auspices of the Association of Business and Industries (BSE) and the Association of Supreme Officers (ESAE).
