Saint Meletius and plus these witnesses
They testified in the years of Emperor Heliogavalos (218 – 222 AD). Saint Meletius, the leader, let’s say, of this martyred series, served a soldier along with two other Saints Stefanos and John. They were complained that they believed in Christ and were ordered to refuse him. But because they did not do so, they underwent horrific torture.
Eventually Meletius were hanged, and Stefanos and John beheaded. But the idolatrous, when he saw Saint Meletius with his prayer crushing the idols of the temple, believed.
Also, Kallinikos the magician, when he saw that Meletius did nothing from the deadly poison he had watered, he believed. Both, after consistently confessed to Christ, were beheaded.
However, in the sight of their martyrdom, they believed and gave their lives for Christ, twelve comitas and frivary, three women, Marcian, Palladia and Sosani, two toddlers, Kyriakos and the Christian, followed by a multitude of martyrs.
