The Assumption of Theotokos

The Assumption of the Virgin is a Theoretical Feast of both the Orthodox Church and other Christian bonds. It is one of the greatest celebrations of Christianity.

In the Orthodox Church, the celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin includes the death and burial of the Virgin Mary, and secondly the resurrection and metastasis in the heavens.

As is well known, above the Cross, our Lord Jesus Christ, ordered his Mother, was taken by John the Evangelist at his home, where he lived with his brother James and his mother Salomis, a relative of the Virgin.

When it is not time to end her earthly life, an angel of the Lord (tradition says that was Archangel Gabriel) made it known three days ago.

The joy of the Virgin was great because she would meet her onlyogeneous Son and God of all people. So he went and prayed to the Mount of Oils, where the Lord Jesus used to pray. She then returned to John’s house, where she made known her forthcoming Assumption.

Tradition states that on the third day of the appearance of the angel, shortly before the Theotokos was asleep, the Apostles were not all in Jerusalem, but in distant places where the Gospel was preached.

Then, suddenly clouds grabbed them and brought them all in front of the bed, where the Theotokos was lying and waited for her downtown. Together with the Apostles came the Areopagite Dionysius, Saint Hierotheos the teacher of Dionysius, Apostolos Timothy, and the other Hierarchs.

When she died, with psalms and hymns they placed her in the memory of Gethsemane. Because, according to a divine economy, one of the apostles (Thomas as tradition says) was not present at the funeral of Theodore, asked for the tomb to be opened to worship the Body of the Virgin.

Thus, after three days, they opened the grave and surprised that the Virgin Mary was physically resurrected and took over the skies. And, of course, all humanity, with gratitude for its embassies in Christ’s Savior, exclaims: “Rejoice, the mother of life.”
