Britain: Tinder dates with a ‘predator’ ruined the lives of 11 women – Shocking revelations

Death threats and abuse that destroyed their mental health were received by 11 women who made an appointment at Tinder with Christopher Harkins on Britain. One woman spent just 20 minutes with him, but the nightmares she experienced scarred her forever.

According to the BBC report, one of the 11 women who set up a Tinder date with notorious cheater and rapist Christopher Harkins in 2018 in Britain said the abuse began when he ended their date early due to “red flags”.

The sports massage therapist is one of the women who shared their harrowing and often bizarre experiences with one of the most abusive men in a new BBC podcast called: ‘Matched with a Predator’.

The UK network’s investigation revealed that 11 women tried to report Christopher Harkins to Police Scotland as early as 2012.

Despite allegations of physical assault, fraud, threats and abuse, Harkins was not investigated by police until late 2019.

Police Scotland said the previous reports were “mainly about the financial situation” and that they were all dealt with individually – a situation they hope “will not happen again now”.

Harkins spent almost a decade committing crimes against women he met online in Scotland and London before being jailed in 2024.

The “acquaintance” with the nightmare

Nadia, now 34, and Harkins, now 38, met on Tinder seven years ago.

They chatted via text and after a few weeks decided to go out for dinner in Glasgow.

For Nadia, the first warning sign came when she arrived to collect Harkins from his flat in Cumbernauld, Scotland.

He answered the door wearing overalls and a tank top, saying he was too tired to go out. He suggested they stay at his apartment and order food.

“This is where things get weird,” Nadia said.

“I went inside. The place was empty. Unfurnished. The living room was completely empty except for a television set on top of some boxes.’

Harkins offered to make Nadia a vodka. When she ditched the alcohol and had a Diet Coke, she says the atmosphere changed.

“It was like he was having an internal crisis,” she said.

“He looked at me as if to say, ‘Who do you think you are?’ Why are you getting yourself a drink?’

I was a little nervous and put it all the way to the top of the glass. As I turned, I spilled the Diet Coke.

The look in his eyes was crazy. He said something like, “You’re so rude, you don’t respect my property. You are a rascal.”

I remember thinking, “Are you serious?” It was a plastic floor.

I said, “Look, I’m just going to leave.” And he pointed to the door and cursed.”

Nadia says: “I was terrified. I thought he would follow me out. I got into my car, locked the doors and that was it…

… I thought it was over there, but it got a lot worse.

You wouldn’t believe how much my life was affected by a 20-minute interaction with this guy.”

The rejection appears to have been a major trigger for Harkins, who began bombarding Nadia with phone calls and texts once she left.

The first read: “How dare you walk out of a date with me?”

As the situation escalated over the next few hours, Nadia says Harkins threatened to throw Molotov cocktails at her house, kill her and attack her father.

These had a devastating effect on Nadia’s self-esteem, something she had tried hard to restore after a difficult period in her life.

“I got messages saying I was a fat cow,” she said.

“I was a fake woman. I looked like a pig. I wore too much makeup. This went on all night. I cried so much I got a headache. At six in the morning he was still sending me abusive messages.

I remember looking in the mirror and being ashamed of myself.

He knew I had lost weight and was going to the gym.

When I thought I was in my best shape, he literally took it away from me.”

The day after their date, Nadia reported the threats and abuse to Police Scotland. He also played a recording of a phone call from Harkins.

In it, she is heard saying that she will go to her father’s house, drag him out and kick him.

“They told me there was nothing they could do for me,” Nadia said.

“They said there was no immediate threat – although when he did, to call them straight away.

No one took a deposition. They didn’t want to help me. I was shouting from the roof: “I can’t stand this, you don’t know what he’s capable of, he’s threatening me.”

Nadia said: “If they had done something then, many things could have been done for the girls who followed me.”

Harkins continued the abuse long after their date ended.

The extent of Harkins’ crimes quickly became apparent and police launched a formal investigation.

One of the 11 women was raped by Harkins two months after dating her.

Harkins was tried in 2024, convicted and imprisoned.
