THE inflation to Britain It has remained at its highest level for more than a year, keeping prices on high levels, as the Bank of England is preparing to announce whether it will continue to reduce interest rates amid the threat of a new increase in energy prices.
Consumer prices inflation in Britain was 3.4% in May, slightly above economists’ expectations of 3.3% and according to BOE forecasts, the National Statistical Service announced today (18.6.2025). Inflation of services – which is closely monitored for domestic pressures – fell to 4.7% from 5.4%.
Inflation in April was officially recorded as 3.5%, as stated a month ago, but the Statistical Service acknowledged on June 5 that it had revealed a mistake and that the rate should be 3.4%. The mistake was attributed to the wrong numbers for the government’s special tax.
