Brazil: President Lula in intensive care – He underwent surgery


Its President is in intensive care Brazil, Luis Inacio Lula da Silvafollowing an emergency surgery he underwent yesterday (09.12.2024) night, due to a brain hemorrhage linked to an accident he had last October.

“The 70-year-old President Lula is in good health and is being monitored by the competent doctors in the intensive care unit, however he will remain in the hospital for a few more days”, as announced today (10.12.2024) by the presidency of Brazil, without however giving more details.

At the same time, the president’s representative spoke today on a radio show and claimed that it is quite possible that President Lula will remain in the Intensive Care Unit for another 48 hours, while adding that “the his condition is stable, with him being calm and consciousยป.

Lula had limited his business travel in recent months while doctors closely monitored his recovery from injuries to the back of his head caused in an accident at his home in late October.

However, it seems like yesterday his health condition worsenedsince President Lula felt severe discomfort and pain during a session of Congress, as a result of which he was transferred to a hospital in Brasilia.

After several tests and one magnetic resonance imagingit was found that the Brazilian President had intracranial hemorrhage and immediately he was taken to Sao Paulo to undergo surgery. Vice President Geraldo Alcmin is expected to temporarily take over Lula’s duties and agenda.
