The family of 18-year-old Thodoris, originally from Rosewho was murdered by robbers in Sao Paulo Brazilwhere he lived permanently in recent years.
“Thodoris was a calm and good-natured child. He was coming next month for a holiday in Rhodes. He wanted to return permanently to Greece”. With these words and immense sadness, the relatives of the family spoke on Live News about 18-year-old Theodoris, who was murdered by robbers’ bullets, in the store where he worked in São Paulo, Brazil.
“He was the kid at work. Bandits came in, shot. Some say they killed them all, others say only the child was killed. We don’t have exact information. It shocked us too. An 18-year-old boy, what can I tell you, because he was coming here for Christmas. His love was the village. The grandmother and grandfather are crying, they are inconsolable that they cannot even see the child,” says his relative.
During the crisis years, the family migrated from Psinthos, Rhodes to São Paulo. In fact, the 18-year-old’s father runs a Greek restaurant in the city.
“The crisis made them migrate. Before they left here, he worked at EKAV, the father was here in Rhodes. At first his wife left with the family and then he took without pay to see if he does and finally he stayed. It’s been a decade since they left and went there because mom is half Brazilian. And they thought that with the crisis they would have a better life and left, but unfortunately that also happened,” added his relative.
“We learned it from my son,” says the 18-year-old’s grandfather
The grandfather of Theodoris spoke to Mega about the tragic moments the family is going through, saying:
- We don’t have any evidence or anything yet, we don’t know. Now my son is going there, he will see. We don’t know anything.
- Does your son live there?
- Yes, he is in Brazil, and of course my son. But at the moment we don’t know anything about what happened. How did the evil happen?
- How long did the child work there?
- The kid goes to school just on the weekends he went and worked a little, like that, a few hours on Saturday and Sunday that was it.

- Who notified you?
- Our son called us that the little one was killed but we don’t know how it happened. We still don’t know anything. We don’t know anything.
Mourning in Sao Paulo
The expatriate community in São Paulo is preparing tomorrow to say goodbye to Theodoris, who just turned 18 last August.
“He was getting his degree in two months. And just as our students work here, so the child also worked to earn pocket money. He was studying and on the weekends he went to work for pocket money,” added his relative.
Theodore would finish high school next year and work weekends in a restaurant in São Paulo. Shortly after 2:30 in the morning on Sunday (26.10.2025) he fell dead from the bullets of ruthless robbers, who entered the restaurant to rob the cash register.
The tragic news was announced by his father, with a heartbreaking post on Facebook. “Inexplicable pain! Losing you so young! Unbelievable! I love you my son!’
So far, the police of Sao Paulo, a city with a negative crime record, have not given more details about the murder, nor whether the perpetrators, who did not hesitate to shoot and kill the child for a handful of notes from the cash register, have been arrested.
