Tragedy occurred in Brazil where seven people, including five members of the same family, were killed after a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff near Sao Paulo (southeast), firefighters said.
One of the victims was businessman Celso Silveira Melo Filio, brother of the owner of Cosan, one of the largest biofuel companies in Brazil, the company said in a press release.
“Celso Silveira Melo Filio, who was a shareholder in the group, was aboard the plane that crashed this morning in Piracicaba, as did his wife, his three children, the captain and the co-pilot,” Cosan said.
The twin-engine crashed into a grove in a settlement in Piracicaba, about 150 miles (150 km) from Sao Paulo, killing all on board.
In photos posted on Twitter by firefighters, a large black area can be seen, at the point of impact, where the flames continue to burn, while there are burned trees around it.

Authorities have not yet provided information on the cause of the crash, which occurred just 15 seconds after takeoff, according to the Piracicamba municipal authority. The aircraft was heading to the state of Para (north).
