“The abolition of the 150 Euro limit and the immediate imposition of duties on small parcels from third countries create conditions of fair competition for Greek businesses.”
The above was underlined by the president of EBEA, Yiannis Bratakos, commenting on the position of the Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the support of the ECOFIN proposal for the immediate imposition of duties on small parcels from third countries.
Specifically, the president made the following statement:
“The placement of the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in Brussels is a clear and bold intervention for the benefit of healthy entrepreneurship in Europe.
The direct imposition of duties on small parcels from third countries — without the €150 limit — is a necessary reform that ensures transparency in e-commerce, protects the European consumer and, above all, creates conditions of fair competition for European and Greek businesses.
As EBEA we support any initiative that shields the market from unfair practices and strengthens businesses that operate according to rules. Greece’s position, as expressed today, is in the right direction: a clear framework, common to all, that allows healthy entrepreneurship to grow, innovate and invest.
Greek businessmen have been asking for a fair and modern European customs regime for years. The discussion at ECOFIN and the attitude of our country are a decisive step in this direction”.
