Greek authorities decided to reset today (18.4.2025) by Monday Easter Inflows on our country’s international electrical interconnections with Bulgaria, Albania, Northern Macedonia and Turkey. The aim is not to add to the Greek electric system energy No extra megawatts in the critical morning and noon hours, during which intense overproduction is expected.
This is not the first time that such an extreme measure has been applied as it has come into force during last year’s Easter. But this year the energy production of RES is even greater, as about 2.5 GW photovoltaics have been added to our country. This has intensified the problem and the difficulty of dealing with it.
In addition to the interconnections, ADMIE and HEDNO have decided to implement production restrictions on the thousands of distribution network photovoltaics that have more than 400 kW.
These are the works of the so -called Group B, where the manager cannot cut the operation automatically and instead, their owners have to do so.
Several producers have already decided not to wait for DEDDIE’s alerts. So they just closed their photovoltaic from Good Thursday and will go on holiday so they don’t have to be on the next few days. That is, they prefer to have a little “groove” rather than suffering because of the situation.
It is worth adding to the above that ADMIE’s latest prediction speaks of a “dip” of demand on Sunday and Easter Monday up to 1,000 MW at lunchtime compared to the last few days.
Ants of the authorities is the wind expected relatively mild in the three -day three -day, so wind will not produce very large quantities that would make things even more difficult.
Both ADMIE and the RIS express their optimism that there will be no electricity problem in the country and that everything will evolve smoothly. The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, said after a meeting with the administrators that two successful tests have already been held on Sunday.
However, the next few days will probably be the most difficult test that the Greek electric system has been called upon to deal with for several years.
