BoG: Travel Revenue increased 8.8% in June and 11% in A 6 months

A surplus of EUR 2,984.9 million showed the travel balance in June 2025, against a surplus of EUR 2,793.4 million in the corresponding month of 2024. According to provisional data from the Bank of Greece (BCT).

In particular, by 8.8%, travel receipts were recorded in June 2025, which stood at EUR 3,306.7 million, compared to EUR 3,038.3 million in the corresponding month of 2024, while increased by 31.4% was observed in travel payments (June 2025: 321.8 million euros, 20.8 million. euro), based on BoG data.

The rise in travel receipts is mainly due to the average spending by 10.2%, as incoming travel traffic decreased by 1.7%.

Net receipts from the provision of travel services offset by 94.4% of the equilibrium deficit and contributed 92.6% to all net receipts from services.

In January-June 2025, the travel balance posted a surplus of EUR 5,991.8 million, compared to a surplus of EUR 5,554.5 million in the corresponding period of 2024.

EUR 760.4 million or 11.0% was reported by travel receipts, which stood at EUR 7,658.9 million, while an increase of EUR 323.1 million or 24.0% were also observed in travel payments, which stood at EUR 1,667.2 million.

The rise in travel receipts came from an increase in incoming travel traffic by 0.6%, but mainly from average spending by 10.1%.

Net receipts from travel services offset by 35.4% of the balance of goods and contributed 81.6% to all net receipts from services.
