Italy, through Fincantieri, has developed its own version of Fremm frigates, known as Bergamini class, which is distinguished in two main configurations: General purpose (GP) and Coalition of War War (ASW).
The format GP are designed for wide use in Multiple Role Businesses, while the ASW they focus on anti -submarine businesses, utilizing advanced sonar systems and anti -submarine weapons.
Bergamini frigates are equipped with Leonardo’s Athena CMS system and with high reliability and potential AESA radar and incorporate Leonardo Kronos Grand Naval, capable ofA detects and monitors air and surface threats over long distanceswith the ability to simultaneously engage multiple goals.
In the field of anti -submarine war, the Bergamini frigates are equipped with the trophy sonar Thales UMS 4110 Cl. In particular, ASW frigates also includes Thales’s variable depth-4 sonar, which provides superior capabilities anti -submarine surveillance In high depth and radius, critical for businesses in areas with increased submarine activity.

The armament includes Advanced anti -aircraft defense systems, By using directed missiles (K/B). Bergamini are armed with 16 Aster 15 rockets and Aster 30. These capabilities make themselves capable of protecting not only themselves but also wider nautical formations from aerial threats, including aircraft, UAVs and enemy -directed missile.
The GP version bears a 76mm OTO MELA DAVIDE/STRALES gun and a 127mm Leonardo Oto Breda cannon with Vulcano ammunition. The ASW version has two 76mm Oto Melara cannons with Davide/Stavide/Strales guidance system.
