Belgium’s National Security Council decided earlier today to take a series of emergency measures, following multiple drone incursions into Belgian airspace, over military bases and near Brussels and Liège airports, which were forced to suspend operations overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Defense Minister Theo Franken said, among other things, that he will submit a specific plan to deal with drones, which is estimated to cost around 50 million euros. Commenting on the repeated drone incursions into Belgian airspace, he spoke of a coordinated operation by “professionals” with the aim of sowing “panic” and “destabilizing” Belgium.
