After Trump’s edited speech that led to two resignations but also a deep crisis in the BBCthe public broadcaster suffered another blunder starring – this time – the Kate Middleton and even live broadcast.
Princess of Wales Kate Middleton attended on Tuesday morning (11.11.2025) the official commemoration ceremony for Armistice Day, the anniversary marking the end of the First World War, which was broadcast live by the BBC, among the major media.
As Kate Middleton laid a wreath, the journalist covering the event referred to her by her political name, which angered some viewers. That is, he called her Kate Middleton and not Princess of Wales.

The 43-year-old Princess of Wales appeared wearing a stunning all-black ensemble. He attended the ceremony alongside veterans, military families and senior officials, paying tribute to the fallen.
Uproar on social media
Her fans watching from home reacted strongly on social media, calling the event “disrespectful». In fact, as they pointed out, the event did not happen once but repeatedly, something that is prohibited since from the moment she entered the royal family she only carries her royal title.

In fact, the Palace has made it clear that even “Kate” is not acceptable since it now bears her baptismal name, i.e. Catherine.
Many viewers pointed out that, more than ten years after her wedding and two years after she became Princess of Wales, the BBC “he should know better.”
Some viewers even argued that using her middle name detracted from the moment and showed a lack of respect, especially given the solemnity of the ceremony.
“Who’s ignorant calling the Princess of Wales ‘Kate Middleton’ on BBC News?” asked an X user.
“Kate Middleton? How disrespectful! This reporter keeps calling her that. Unacceptable!” wrote another.
And a third added: “Can someone tell your reporter that she shouldn’t call the Princess of Wales ‘Kate Middleton?'”
