Mercouris Psylakis was The surfers who lost his life on Saturday morning (06.09.2025) in Australia. He had taken for surfing when he was attacked in the shark attacking his injuries.

Mercouri Psylakis and his brother, as Australian reports inside them, knew “almost everyone” in Dee why, describing him as a warm and hospitable man who was always on the beach.
The twin brothers, Mercury and Mike, loved surfing (Mike has his own Surf boards manufacturing) and lived in the coastal community by children when their parents moved to Dee why in 1962.
Deeply rooted in the community, they participated in clubs and organizations, while Merc, as they were fondly called, had recently organized a “paddle out” in honor of an old surfer who had left. They were also members of the Long Reef Boardriders Association.

Mercury was crowned champion of the club in 1994 and Mike followed in 1999.
Friends and relatives of Mercury Psillakis, the Greek who was killed by a shark in the northern suburbs of Sydney, found consolation from other surfers with sadness being evident in their faces.
Members of the family were seen to embrace and rely on each other as they were sitting in the sand, a few meters away from a scene set up and excluded by the public.
