Attica Metro: ‘Frames’

Video recorded the “frame-frame” of the trapping and then the removal of the passengers, from the subway train, on the tunnel, next to the rails after the forced stoppage due to the falling man from a dock that resulted in “stations”.

According to the procedures intended, on the sidelines of the incident, and in order to continue the traffic in part, trains were reversed in the Katechaki – Panormou section.

During this procedure, this train has lost a voltage loss and the passengers used the doors release lever.

As StAYSI points out in its announcement, the operation staff following the security protocols immediately stopped powering in the particular part of the line and then to evacuate the train to Panormos Station.

Traffic across line 3 has been restored.

The man was recovered from the Fire Brigade, injured and received by an EKAB ambulance.

STASY’s announcement

In response to reports to the media, regarding today’s train evacuation on the metro network, STASY points out the following:

The train was immobilized between the Katechaki and Panormos stations due to the loss of electricity voltage, a consequence of the incident of the suicide attempt at Evangelismos Station.

It was followed by a forced discharge, after incorrect use of the passenger release lever and while an attempt was made to restart the train.

During their stay in the train (11:45 – 12:05), passengers were informed by the driver with successive announcements in Greek and English, initially for the delay of the route and then for the evacuation.

Along the tunnel there is sufficient lighting on both sides, as well as a sidewalk, through which passengers arrived at the nearest Panormos station.

At 13:16 all passengers were at Panormos Station. The evacuation process was under the supervision of the driver and the station, strictly applying the security protocol and without any injury.

The Fire Brigade announced that a person’s release operation from the subway train at Evangelismos Station was completed shortly after 12.00.

9 firefighters with 3 vehicles rushed to the spot.
