Strong pressures were accepted by the prices of shares in today’s (26.8.2025) meeting Stock market Athens, in the midst of deterioration of climate in international markets.
There is also a negative climate in European stock markets, with the biggest losses recorded by the French CAC 40, with markets negatively affected by the new political crisis in France, but also by the US president’s intervention in the Fed’s independence.
The General Price Index closed at 2,076.57 points, with a loss of 1.87%. Intra-conference recorded lower price at 2,063.63 points (-2.48%). The value of the transactions was raised to EUR 458.43 million, with 81,327,440 shares. The increase in transactions is significantly due to inputs due to the restructuring of MSCI indicators.
The high capitalization index fell 1.97%, while the middle capitalization index fell 0.90%.
Of the high capitalization shares, the shares of Optima Bank (+1.00%), EYDAP (+0.97%) and Aegean Airlines (+0.27%) rose. On the other hand, the shares of Alpha Bank (-6.32%), Ethniki (-2.97%), Sarantis (-2.93%), Coca Cola HBC (-2.78%), Jumbo (-2.02%), Eurobank (-1.99%) and PPC (-1.91%) fell the biggest decline.
The largest volume of trading was presented by Alpha Bank and Eurobank with 34,994,158 and 14,962,582 shares, respectively. Alpha Bank with € 125.88 million and Nationals with EUR 67.41 million was the highest value of transactions.
20 shares were up, 95 declining and 11 remained stable. The shares rose the most: Kekrops (+5.16%) and a runner (+3.88%). The biggest decline was recorded by the Attic Publications (-7.44%) and Doppler (-6.90%).
