After the worrying developments around the Monastery of St. Catherine in SinaiForeign Minister George Gerapetritis immediately contacted his Egyptian counterpart. Mr Gerapetritis called for the compliance with the agreed between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al -Sisi in early May.
Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lana Zochou, in response to a journalist’s question, pointed out that “the governments of Greece and Egypt have been working systematically lately for an agreement, which will ensure the sacred Greek -Orthodox nature of the area. We are awaiting the mission of the Egyptian Court of Appeal issued yesterday.
