Successfully completed on Sunday morning (14.09.2025) the premiere of 24 -hour operation measure, tram and buses. Crowds decided to leave the cars home and enjoy the night out, returning safely to sleep with MMM.
On the first day of this measure, the public transport was filled with people. Both the decision on the 24 -hour operation of tram, bus and subway, as well as the new and tightened coke, filled with bitter fines for offendersthey did – mostly – the young people to come out for fun without catching a steering wheel. The purpose of the Ministry of Transport is to reduce traffic accidents caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
Speaking to ERTNEWS, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis He emphasized that it will save many lives as young people will be safely returned to their home.

“It is difficult to prove but beyond true that from today and every Saturday some lives on Greek streets will be saved precisely because employees put huge backs to have a 24 -hour metro, 24 -hour bus routes and a 24 -hour tram every Saturday night. That is why we do it so that we young children can especially return home on Saturday night safely, for their parents who are worried, for every young man who comes out in Athens on Saturday night to have fun and wants a reliable alternative so that he can not worry about the way.
For his part, the CEO of STASY, Thanasis Kotaras, He said in the same medium that “we are very happy for two reasons”.
“For the first time we apply the 24 -hour Saturday operation to the subway” and “the second and most important because tonight thousands of passengers and especially thousands of young people embraced this nightlife of the Lines 2 and 3 of the Metro, the Tram and the bus lines”.
Indeed, as he said, “the young people mainly embraced this government’s initiative to transport people to their home safely and financially and to reduce traffic accidents as much as possible on Saturday night.”
As people said, he is very pleased with the measure and is something that wants to continue and pledged that as a STASY they are committed to continuing the effort.
Mr Kotaras stressed that it was not easy and simple, as it took several “changes and customizations in our systems”.
As he said to serve the world 250 people worked in the nightlife.
