Athena Papachristou, the farmer who had donated an ambulance to EKAB Messolonghi died

Her last breath was left by the elderly Athena Papachristou, who had donated two years ago to her back to EKAB Messolonghi a ambulance.

Athena Papachristou’s then 89 -year -old had moved the nation, with her gesture donate a brand new and state -of -the -art ambulance worth 65,000 euros to the EKAB Messolonghi sector.

She bought the ambulance with her fitter after many decades of work. The retired farmer, who lived in Messolonghi with the backlash of a lifetime, wanted to cover, as she had said, the needs of her fellow citizens.

As she had said, she donated this memory to her husband, as many years ago, and when there was no EKAB sector in Mesolongi, she was often forced to carry her weak husband and with great hassle to Ioannina, Patras or Athens.

Athena Papachristou, who then spent all her savings, had only asked for one thing in return: when she passes the ambulance under her house, the crew remembered her siren …

She had been honored by the Presidency of the Republic for her contribution, and the prime minister had contacted her by phone to thank her.

A condolence message was sent by the Municipality of Messolonghi.
