Heraklion, Lasithi, Chios, Samos, Ikaria and Karpathos are today, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Category 4 – Very high risk of fireaccording to the risk prediction map issued by daily General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection.
The warning concerns a particularly critical day for these areas, as the drought, high temperatures and winds They make up an explosive mix, dramatically increasing the risk of forest fires.
In increased readiness the authorities
Already, the competent services, regions and municipalities have been put into Status of increased operational readiness. In application lies the 2nd stage of operational readiness of the Fire Brigadewith air surveillance patrols, enhanced ground forces, and partial alert in the fire departments of the burdensome areas.
