Aphrodite Latinopoulou: “Long live Metaxas! Sweep away all this trash that disrespects our flag”

“Do we see teachers attacking our country?”

One phrase was enough to ignite the tension on the Action 24 airwaves on the evening of October 28. OR Aphrodite Latinopoulouwho was invited to the “Next Day”, opened her presence by saying: “Long live Greece, long live the nation, long live Metaxas”, causing confusion and comments on the set.

The presenter and journalist of the show Serafim Kotrotsos commented sharply saying: “We have started”, while the discussion quickly developed into a heated confrontation about the historical “NO” and who said it first.

“You say that Ioannis Metaxas said NO to the Italians and not the Greek people. Unfortunately, history describes things completely differently…”, said Seraphim Kotrotsos.

“The story is one. What did he say? Did he say yes? He told the Italian ambassador NO and the people followed him into the war,” Aphrodite Latinopoulou continued. “Metaxas was the one who first said NO”, concluded.

“It happens these days, in view of our national anniversary, that we see teachers attacking our homeland, against our national holidays and to say that national holidays should be abolished and that children should not be taught them, nor should they make Greek flags? Educators who teach our children are paid by our taxes”also said the president of the Voice of Reason.

Speaking to Action 24 herself, she emphasized: “Whoever they were (including the teachers who supported this) they should be dismissed, and one, and two, and 1,000, and 10,000, whoever they were. This is the responsibility of the state. They have the audacity, not only to do it in the theaters, they have the audacity to do it through social media, to upload names.”

“They should have been fired yesterday. Sweep, sweep all this trash that disrespects our flag. They don’t respect… all those who insult the memory of our heroes, the memory of our ancestors,” Aphrodite Latinopoulou added in an intense tone.

“I’m not taking it to the Right at all, I’m taking it to reason. I am Greek and I speak as a Greek. There is only one truth for Greece”, he noted.
