The government describes it as unacceptable, by word of mouth Pavlos Marinakisthe statement made earlier today by the president of PASOK, Nikos Androulakiswho said – in response to a question on SKAI’s “Mismatches” show about crime in Crete – that “benteta means honor crime’. She calls him, not, to withdraw her.
More specifically, in his statement this evening, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis underlines the following:
“This morning the president of PASOK said in a televised interview: “We have confused honor crimes with gross corruption involving gangs, don’t confuse them all. A vendetta means a crime of honor.”
Can you explain what that means? Are there any “justified” homicides? Are there murders of greater and some of lesser depravity? Is Mr. Androulakis preparing to propose a change to the criminal code that makes a murder in the context of a “vendetta” a “soft” issue? Or is the obvious just happening, i.e. the president of PASOK is caressing the ears of some voters?
Be that as it may, Mr. Androulakis owes an explanation, unless, after realizing what he said, he retracts his unacceptable statement.”
What did the president of PASOK say?
Speaking this morning on the show “Mismatches” on SKAI television, the leader of the official opposition party referred, among other things, to his initiative on the use of weapons in Crete and the interventions and synergies at the educational and social level.
There, according to the relevant announcement of PASOK, he said: “We have confused “crimes of honor” with the gross corruption involving gangs, let’s not confuse them all. Vendetta means “honour crime”. Crete has a lower homicide average than the rest of Greece. That is, in Crete, which represents 6% of the total population, homicides are at 2.5%.”
